I am very positive about the stairs. For my 2 older large dogs (approximately 25 kilos), they immediately understood how to use it after seeing it once. They now climb up to my bed every evening via the little stairs to go to sleep. They also come down using the stairs. The steps are wide enough and there is enough space in between. My 2 senior ladies and I are very happy with it. I definitely recommend this product.
P.S. It is placed between my bed and the radiator/window, and it fits as if it was made for it.
