The paint finish was immediately flaking off of both ratchets as soon as I pulled them out of the box most of the paint has already come off before I even used them

These could easily be a great value, but they aren't there yet.
Yes, these are extremely inexpensive load binders, which is why I still gave 3 stars, but the ratcheting mechanism is "pretty tight" which makes tensioning & releasing loads pretty annoying and inconvenient.
Compounding the issue is the fact that the black rubber grips in the picture are really just "sleeves" that slide all over the place and are difficult to keep on the barrel in use, and the barrel is impossible to grip well enough to operate the ratchet without them.
