Great value for price. Dug 8 4x4 post holes fairly easy. It's variable speed, so go I suggest to go slow. Rocks can be an issue and will bind and want to take your arms for a spin. If you go slow, you can sense the rock let off the gas.

Have used it for two posts now. It's exactly what I had hoped for. A cheap but serviceable auger that will get the job done. Do be sure to clear the hole frequently by moving it up and down while you dog as there is no reverse. If it had a reverse I would have given 5 stars, but not having a reverse may be why it's so cheap.

Had a few dozen holes to make for transplanting plants and shrubs. By hand would have taken me hours. This tool was shockingly simple to use and made very quick work for me. Took 10 minutes instead of hours of digging by hand (especially since to much of the soil here is heavy with clay). Initially was underpowered and gave off a lot of smoke but I realized the choke was only partially closed. Once choke setting was correct it ran amazing with plenty of power for a one-man digger. NOTE: it comes with a fuel mixing bottle and a tool kit to make assembly and repairs easy.

I bought 2 of these augers as the price was very attractive. I decided to get the Augers with the single 8" bit and put them to the test. I made several holes on the first day and even used the extension to see how the Auger would perform. The Auger is light but strong enough to dig through hard soil. I did encounter a few small roots and were not a problem. The Bit does not have a spring on it to help absorb impacts like other bits but once again this is a great bargain Auger. The second Auger has also worked excellent. One thing to note is other cheap Augers online use a 25 to 1 gas ratio which is odd and this one uses a 40 to 1 which is more common.
