Very cheap made the wax has warn off already and it's only need outside about 4 months so it needs to be painted now the only cool thing about it is the observation windows the bee castle is a much better hive than this one

I ordered 2 of these and the first one to arrive was packaged really well, all pieces there and assembled easily. Second one was a couple days behind. This one came with a damaged top lid. Customer service sent a whole new set instead of just a lid which was great. However, the replacement set that came also had some of the frame pieces damaged. Again customer service was great and refunded me just over half of the cost. If they start packaging their products better to not have so many loose pieces being tossed around inside, this would probably solve their issues. , I may consider purchasing through them again. At this time though, I’m waiting. Deeps and mediums are well constructed with a nice wax coating. Easy assembly. The plastic viewing windows don’t last long. They warp with hot temps outside and I ended up taking them out of the boxes. Customer service gets 5 star reviews.

3 pieces of the deeps and 2 pieces of the supers were split and cracked in half. Half the frame bars were splitting or already cracked. When I opened the box there were chunks everywhere from random pieces. The wax almost seems, smells and taste like paraffin wax not natural beeswax.... And the viewing windows are a cloudy piece of acrylic, while I was expecting a clear viewing window on the boxes.

Boxes are nice wax dipped. The frames were not all very good putting together about 800 frames and a good portion of those I had to modify to get to fit properly. Good for the price not the high-quality out there though

Only a year and a 1/2 in service and it is falling apart already.Nothing a couple nails and glue won't fix.But I expected a little more

After one season it’s showing it’s age not too sure if it’s bee wax coated not holding up like my other equipment

The box and frames are very good quality. My issue with the product: while it is described as a "beginner" box; it doesn't have the inner cover, the top cover or a bottom board so I had to get those elsewhere. Those do not have the same quality of beeswax coating as this box and frames. The box has very good coverage with beeswax coating. As I am an existing bee keeper, I didn't need the large kits. If you add the cost of a bottom board, Inner cover and the lid, it becomes a quite expensive single hive box.

Great Hive, wax coating could be better on boxes and thicker on foundations. Frames upper and lower bars need to have a bit more attention to detail when nothing, frames needed alot of trimming to get side rails to seat properly and hold foundation in place.

Didn’t come as described no opening on the sides damage top on one l ask for the exchange. On beginning of my complaint they set need 48 hours to review my case took them about week to respond. Missed second email so they closed case .

Bought this hive as a starter kit for my new hobby of beekeeping. Arrived promptly and have been slowly building the boxes and frames before the bees are available at end of May. Boxes themselves were pretty easy to assemble. They are coated with wax however this does seem patchy and some areas do not seem to have much wax in them. The medium frames in general were relatively easy to put together however the deep frames were a big problem. The finishing and cutting of the pieces that lock together are very poor. Almost every side piece ended up splitting as the notches were either off center or were too big by approx 2mm. It was almost impossible fit the deep frames together and had to spend hours chipping away or repairing broken side pieces. Ended up having to buy new deep frames from a local hive making company. The plastic foundations for the frames do not feel lime they have enough of a beeswax coating. Again I am having to buy additional beeswax to ensure the coating is correct. Overall the hive looks good although I think the observation windows are a gimmick as you are not going to see much in the hive. The quality and accuracy of the finishing is what lets it down. I would recommend sourcing your hive from a local supplier.
