So I used the tool today on my '18 Subaru (took the wheel off, as the brakes needed to be replaced too). It does indeed work and I am ahead of the game after a single sensor, as my mechanic charges $250 to replace one. But I give the process a 6/10, with the hope that additional practice will yield faster results. The wheel doesn't seem to require a lip on the inner rim for the swinging tool tongue to catch on - the tongue just squeezes the fixed fork of the tool between the rim and the bead. This may not work on all rims, but it did work on mine even though it didn't look like it would. The central, moving part of the fork then jams the tire down. It was tricky maneuvering the new sensor into place around the bulk of the tire, even with the tire off. I used a couple of very large supplemental clamps to make more space around the old sensor area. Then, getting the bead to reseat and hold air was a hassle but did eventually work. I had to wrap a ratchet strap around the tire to squeeze the bead into a seal. EDIT: two weeks later I did another of my Subaru tires and it was a little more difficult. I couldn’t get this tool to jam the bead down far enough to slip the new stem and TPMS sensor into the wheel, so I unscrewed the sensor from the stem and attempted to reattach the sensor after the stem was installed. This is tricky even on a good day, and I ended up dropping the sensor into the tire. At this point I gave up and brought the wheel and tire to my local tire shop, where using a hydraulic tire machine they fished out the sensor, installed it, and reflated the tire in about five minutes. The secret to success here is being able to mash the bead down far enough to give you enough space to remove and reinstall the sensor. This tool gets you 90% of the way there, not 100%.

Bonjour J’ai utilisé le détalonneur de pneus sur un pneu de tracteur agricole. J’ai voulu le faire moi-même car cela faisait des dizaines d’années que ce pneu était en place. Je savais la jante rouillée et je voulais la peindre à la peinture antirouille avant de remonter la chambre à air. Il n’y à qu’avec ce détalonneur de pneu que je suis arrivé à le décoller. Je m’y suis pris à deux fois et à 15 à 20 centimètres de distance. Le pneu s’est décollé sans problème alors que j’avais essayé d’autres solutions auparavant sans aucun résultat. Très bon produit.
