It works well, but I didn't realise it needs monitoring to get the input and output of the water to balance. I bought extra piping to reach to my water supply and have pipes stretching across the kitchen which is a bit of a trip hazard. I am a bit nervous of it as I haven't used it many times. There is no indicater to tell you if the boiler is running dry. I use it for distilling water and have a wood burning stove so it doesn't need electric other than for the pump. My last distiller was all electric and expensive to run, although not so labour intensive.

Wasn't looking to "go big or go home" you can run this on a single burner colman stove(which I did). I have made a few runs with it with some sugar shine mix and one with some apple juice mix. Bout 4 runs total so far and everything is working fine. I have not put more than 2 gallons in the boiler on any of the runs. FYI you need lots of cold water available... no wonder them bootleggers always worked by a mountain stream....

The only problem I've had is the thermometer steams up and eventually fills with liquid otherwise it does an awesome job.

Went ahead and purchased this little rig, with no high hopes. After receiving it and unpacking, I was immediately impressed with the weight of the unit. I expected feather weight steel, this thing actually has a bit of solidity to it. Set it up, ran a water/vinegar initial run, no leaks, worked perfectly for the full run. Next run I had a leak in the pot, stopped the run, tightened the seal, ran perfectly to the end. As long as you do not over-tighten the seals, this rig runs great. I look forward to many many more runs with great success.

I got the still a little earlier than expected.On opening the box I found it to be a tad flimsy, all the parts that were itemised were there.I did a test run and found the still to eventually produce a good product so I will give high marks for that.A few points on the downside though which are mostly niggles as opposed to critical.1. The cooler takes some adjusting to get the flow rate to be consistent. You have to keep an eye on the levels of water as it has a tendency to either overflow or underflow. The valves are not really that well engineered and take some time to adjust to the correct flow..2. The thermostat almost immediately filled with condensation so the guage was not really that well visible. It doe not clear up. It could do with being in the condensate outlet as the readings you do get are from the kettle body which are less than accurate for the conded material temps.3. The gin/botanicals basket is unusable really because of the design. It certainly could do with a rethink. If you were to put botanicals in it the condensate would not perculate through them. The inlet of the chamber is at lid level as opposed to being fed through a pipe into the spirit the botanicals would be immersed ion The condensate flows over the top instead of running through the fluid creating head and percolation then the condensate leaving through the exit and into the worm. Useless to say the least.All in all not a bad bit of kit for the price but could do with some very inexpensive modifications to improve the overall machine.Good for beginners with a bit of knowledge though and worth a try if you want to get into distillates.
