I’ve purchased the 8” version. It seems well made, all pretty solid. The hose is also sturdy good quality. The external steel coils don’t spring all over the place, they just keep it in place. I checked the fuse….the unit is 230W but the fuse was a ‘homemade’ 13 amp fuse. A 3A fuse is more than sufficient. The mains cable is about 1m long….too short….needs an extension. There’s also an issue where the mains cable passes from the handle through a hole in the metal casing on its way to the motor. The cable had been stripped back and there was no protection to stop the three inner cores getting damaged by vibration over time. It’s bad practice and poor quality of supervision to allow that…..it’s not difficult to rectify this acceptably but check it because it’s potentially dangerous as it stands.I bought this to force ventilate my workshop that has no windows. The air can get a bit stagnant so occasional circulation and refreshing is what im after. The room is about 5x5m x 2.2m high ie 55 cu m. It’s not a big space and larger fans would be overkill so i went for the 8” size. Regardless of stated outputs etc, the air being moved isn’t a gale, doesn’t blow things over, but is probably just right for that space. However contrary to the other review, the fan is noisy…I certainly wouldn’t want it running all the time. If you’ve got machinery etc running I don’t think the noise would be an issue but using hand tools etc the noise would be intrusive if on constantly. It is certainly not a gentle whir! For my purposes that isn’t a particular problem as I’ll use it for occasional half hour bursts but if you intend to run it more continuously or in a quiet environment, you do need to be aware of this.Overall, seems pretty good. I’ve docked a star because of the noise and cable issue but worth 5 stars apart from that.
