I am a hi-fi buff of sixty odd years continuous experience, and had learned about the excellent results of ultrasonically cleaned LP records through various hifi magazines and several YouTube vlogs. I decided to give it a try; one of my requirements was for the machine to have a Degas facility. Vevor's was the first model brought to my attention, and I purchased from Vevor solely because this model featured Degas. I'm glad I did. The controls were simplicity personified, and very easily learned.
I had already discovered my perfect cleaning mixture, via previous extended use of a popular hand-driven bath with label protectors and a seven disc drying rack, so with the prompt addition of a cheap mains motorised spindle touted to hold four or five discs at a time, set the Vevor to work. I do not over-state the results when I say they proved amazing. The records not only looked like new, they played as if they WERE new. I wouldn't go as far as to state every pop and click had vanished, they were only reduced, but the enjoyment of this hifi buff playing and listening once again to full-range recorded music increased tenfold.
The spacers cum label protectors provided by the spindle manufacturer measured 5mm thick. I calculated that if the discs were reduced to 4mm thick, I could fit 7 discs on the spindle at one "sitting". The introduction of a second drying rack enabled a "sitting" to be extended to 14 discs. However I was fully prepared to experience lesser results. I trawled the internet to locate a supplier, and later to my delight proved that in addition to clean records, added value was introduced in that the seven discs using the 4mm spacing played even better than the previous five. Don't ask, I have absolutely no idea why, but even the older discs, recorded in the 1930s, 40s and 50s, sounded great.
I have cleaned well over 200 records now, and continue to be amazed at the end results. Plus I'm on course to complete cleaning of my whole collection by the end of the year at the latest.
There seems to be only two downsides to owning a Vevor...I'm spending far too much time relaxing and drinking coffee whilst the LPs are drying...and friends are now requiring proof of my claims - with me doing the cleaning - using their records...
