Zeer mooie Variac. Ik gebruik hem om audio apparatuur te testen. Ik heb er wel een kleine aanpassing op gemaakt. De regeling is van 0V tot 300V. Ik heb hem ingesteld dat er niet meer dan 230V uit kan komen.

It's got good weight to and it doesn't move around on you bench. display a voltage on it. How much is going in Very Good. Like my purchase.

Received 3 days late (China is a long way), quality of build is very good and finish is excellent, works as expected voltage output is 10% high (due to input rating being 220v) on dial reading however LCD meter is accurate. WARNING unit is supplied with a European mains plug fitted and a travel adaptor for UK use, the EARTH CONNECTION IS DISCONTINUED with this configuration !!! it is Dangerous cut off the plug and fit a UK mains plug and all is well. I use this transformer for repairing and building power suppies it gives a clean sine wave and works well at full load. At the price it is excellent value hence 4 stars.

I bought this to control the burn on my Lichtenberg device. I am extremely happy with it. It does seem well made and extremely heavy. It arrived well packed and in good time as it was coming from Germany. The only fault and it is niggle if anything, it came with a European adapter plug for the UK. I just put a normal plug on which solved that problem.

Very impressive manufacturing and constructional quality. Output voltage clearly displayed on LED monitor. Easy to use rotor for varying AC output. For UK use the output is delivered through standard three pin socket.

Top trafo! Robuust en zeer nauwkeurig regelbaar. Geeft ook afwijking van het net weer. Gemakkelijk bij te regelen. Wel even vooraf met een voltmeter de werkelijke output meten. Want deze kan afwijken van de opgave in het digitale display. Maar verder top. Ook totaal geen 'brom', wat mijn vorige trafo wel had. Daarom ook deze gekocht. Gebruik hem, vrij statisch, om zeer nauwkeurig mijn (100 V) Japanse platenspeler te voeden. Voor dit doel perfect en aanrader!

This little machine is silent, effective, and absolutely Gorgeous to look at. The digital Voltmeter is accurate, and the large dial can readily be reset to point to whichever is the most important voltage. First Problem: the "UK 3-pin Plug" is illegal in the UK, because it isn't fused. (At least the machine itself is fused, and comes with spare fuses.) It is easy to fit a genuine fused UK plug. Second Problem: the 3-pin socket is also illegal in the UK because it doesn't have Shutters actuated by the Earth pin. This means the Line hole is Live when there is no plug in the socket. So I recommend fitting a plastic child safety cover into the socket when the machine is out of use.

I restore vintage radios and needed a new 'variac' for safely waking these delicate devices after a prolonged 'sleep'. This 500W unit is fabulous value for money and would have scored 5 stars but for a couple of small niggles - well one small niggle and one fairly large one. That is that the transformer winding is way too close to the vent holes on the base of the unit. This could pose a safety hazard if objects were to be trapped under the unit. ( I have fixed my transformer under the workbench where this cannot happen.) The other niggle is the scale on the top is wildly inaccurate! Fortunately the digital voltmeter is considerably better, but I recommend you check its accuracy against a reliable meter as even this is not perfect. It is slightly awkward having the control on the top and the meter on the side, but given that the meter is really a bonus I can forgive it that issue.Having over-witten the numbers on the dial with my finest Sharpie (other permanent markers are available) I find this is now a really useful tool in the workshop, and I don't want to be without it.
